Today’s choice is Christian Warren Freed’s “Dreams of Winter” (https://t.co/BaP8JXqcEI). Dreams of Winter is a truly exhilarating title, and so when it comes to amazing items in all the domains of science fiction, we’re sure this one belongs on our lists. Going beyond the front cover, we discover storytelling that is surely entertaining in its delivery. If we assume you share our enthusiasm for a good book, you should have a quick look at how fans reacted. In the words of an obviously enthused reader, “One of the things I always found a little uncomfortable about Malazan: Book of the Fallen series was the abundance of gods. I prefer stories in which human foibles and strengths drive the plot. That pretty much sums up the A Song of Fire and Ice series. The Forgotten Gods Tale, of which Dreams of Winter is the first volume, sits somewhere between those two. Yes there are gods, and yes they are powerful, and yes they do make a mess, but the real focus is on the humans and how they deal with the mess.” If you read our earnest recommendation, you ought to go that tiny step further and get a copy of the book yourself. If not, stay tuned until we discover the next big science fiction author of our time. Like you, we can only hope we’re getting close!
